The taskbar is the strip along the bottom

The Taskbar is the long bar at the bottom of your screen. It is with you all day. Let us learn what each part of it does.

The main parts of the Taskbar

  • Start button โ€” on the far left, opens the Start menu.
  • Pinned apps โ€” icons of apps you use often, ready for one click.
  • Open apps โ€” apps you have opened show here, often with a small line under them.
  • System tray โ€” the small icons on the right side.
  • Clock โ€” shows the time and date, on the far right.

The system tray icons

โ–ถSmall icons, big help

  1. 1. Volume

Click it to make the sound louder or softer.

  2. 2. Wi-Fi

Click it to see and connect to internet networks.

  3. 3. Battery

On laptops, shows how much charge is left.

If you cannot see an icon, click the small up-arrow (^) near the tray. Some icons hide there to keep the bar tidy.

You can pin an app to the Taskbar too: right-click an open app on the Taskbar and choose 'Pin to taskbar'. Now it stays there for one-click opening.
