What is a touchpad?
A touchpad is the flat, smooth square below the keys on a laptop. You slide your finger on it to move the arrow (the pointer) on the screen. It does the same job as a mouse, but you do not need to carry anything extra.
Keep your finger relaxed and light. You do not need to press hard. A soft, gentle touch works best.
โถThe main touchpad actions
1. Move the pointer
Slide one finger slowly across the pad. The arrow on screen moves with your finger.
2. Tap to click
Gently tap the pad once with one finger to open or select the thing under the arrow.
3. Two-finger scroll
Place two fingers on the pad and slide up or down to move the page up or down.
4. Right-click
Tap with two fingers together, or press the bottom-right corner of the pad.
Click and drag
To move something on the screen, press and hold the pad with one finger while you slide another finger to move it. When it reaches the right spot, lift your fingers to drop it. This is called click-and-drag.
If your finger reaches the edge of the pad but the arrow needs to go further, just lift your finger, place it back in the middle, and slide again.
